Jon Mells is a serial entrepreneur, marketing strategist and futurist on where business and brand models are headed in the next five years as the digital revolution really kicks in. A street smart straight shooter, he’s got the business deeds to back his advice and thinking.

Jon’s personally started or worked with cutting edged businesses in many competitive sectors each of the last three decades and sees the next five years as the most dynamic of all. He has also been the founding director of Marketing Intelligence, Tude and now Reimagineer.

‘We won’t recognise much of the business landscape in five years but the speed in uptake of mobile devices keeps bringing forward the year where change becomes so constant mind sets will be a liability. In reality who best predicts or positions in the next two years will prosper hugely.

Where whole rumps or niches of businesses in various sectors will morph or die almost before our eyes because they left their adaption too late. Two years ago 2017 was seen as ‘that’ year now we think 2015 but maybe 2014.

By then mobile digital devices led by smartphones and tablets will be peaking in the mass market and the firepower generated by literally millions of people developing apps will make us dizzy in one sense. But their artificial intelligence will ‘cause the older generation to finally fall in love with technology en mass. And that’s also the money generation – if they feel comfortable enough to spend it.'

Jon earned his marketing spurs in five start-up businesses later sold as innovative leaders in their sectors. But it’s strategy, IP, creative and conceptual thinking in a digital age that is his passion and forté today.

After early careers journalism and public relations, Jon started his first business at 23. He showed canny foresight in picking winning market niches in their infancy and then executing innovative marketing strategy.

Other sectors of expertise include retail, product distribution, event promotions, hospitality and most media. Jon’s had hands-on experience as a national franchisor, distributor, founding chairman of a 120 shop co-operative, advertising creative, business broker and retailer. He’s also a Certified Master Coach from the Behavioral Coaching Institute in Australia.

The fun loving type, Jon’s passions outside work include wine, music, travel, cycling, fishing, writing, reading and just being an upbeat influence on those who cross his path.

“The future is already here it’s just unevenly distributed in the margins but it at least give us some predictors of what to expect. We are entering a phase where in some sectors 5D marketing is necessary to reach consumers strung out along the digital and non-digital divides but this is a passing
phase once mid-lower
and older age groups
catch-up to create the
crest which will also be
unevenly distributed.
